The 2026 Glock sales Ban and our 2nd Amendment Rights

It is coming next year unless we rally together and get involved. What is coming? The Gavin Newsom Glock sales ban, aka Law AB1127. The bill was signed by our California Governor on October 10, 2025. What does this mean for the future of Glock owners, retailers, and consumers in the firearms industry? Well let's talk about it.

As of now, almost every firearms store from Burbank, CA down to Fountain Valley, CA are either sold out of Glocks, or selling them as they come in. I went to RifleGear located in Fountain Valley CA to pick up some Glock 17 magazines and here is what I discovered. They had seven Glock 19's, one Glock 26, and one Glock 17 on hand. Furthermore, all of these Glocks were being sold without magazines and it was not because of a come up move from Riflegear. They were literally getting these Glocks from middle men vendors who only had the magazines not in compliance with our CA gun laws. That alone is pretty amazing that they are finding Glock's for their customers. Shout out to Riflegear! People are buying them like there is no tomorrow and it is true. Once July 1, 2026 hits, Glocks will not be sold in any retail stores in California. The dates are a bit conflicting though, as online suggests both January 1st and July 1st. So worse case scenario, if you want a Glock and have not purchased one by January 1st, you will not be a Glock owner, legally at least.

I did find out that most stores such as Ammo Bros, Riflegear, and LAX Ammo will still carry Glock magazines. All of them informed me they will carry the aftermarket P-Mags, KCI mags, and other aftermarket brands. A few reps from the stores suggested even Glock manufactured mags will not be available, but I have yet to confirm that.  *Recoil Magazine posted an article on July 3rd, 2024 with their opinions on aftermarket Glock mags if you are interested.* But back to this Glock sales ban.

We have dealt with the assault on our 2nd Amendment Rights for decades now. From the infamous Assault Rifles ban to the High Capacity Magazine ban. It is evident that California is NOT a Pro 2nd Amendment state. At least not Constitutionally speaking (my opinion). It breaks my heart. The state I grew up in and call home. The state where my Father and I used to go with his friends and shoot machine guns in the desert. We shot Uzi's, muskets and an awesome array of firearms. We had such a strong sense of our American Freedom. This was in the 90's growing up the way an All American kid should. Tough, excited, and free. Our Constitutionally protected rights intact. No bans. Yet here we are.

Banning Glocks is not only unconstitutional in regards to our 2nd Amendment rights, but it is also a huge crush on our commerce. With the ever increasing sales taxes, ammo excise tax, roster bans, etc. it truly impacts all of us. It is counterproductive too. If California really wanted to see a boom in economics then they would truly be aware of the impact they are putting on us. I do not want to get overly political, but how can we not? It seems at every corner the consumers, business owners, and the industry are bearing the brunt of these so called regulations. Who makes the revenue from the taxes? The Government. Who benefits from the regulations? Not the law abiding citizens I can assure that. What do we get from all of this abuse? Money being sent to the very agencies that keep stripping away at our foundational freedoms, (clears throat ATF...).

I cannot predict the future but let me share some data. There are several pistols that compete for the best selling firearm in California. The Sig P365, the Sig P320, and you guessed it, the Glock 19. That is insane. Gavin Newsom and the bill's authors Assembly members Jesse Gabriel (Encino-D) and Catherine Stefani (San Francisco- D) are not firearms experts, nor are they even qualified to understand the ramifications of banning such a firearm. The Glock 19 is and has been one of the best firearms for duty and concealed carry. No one disputes the durability, reliability, and proven track record the Glock 19 has. When this ban hits, companies will certainly be affected. And why?

I am going to end this blog with this. What can we do? How can we support the industry and allow our voices to be heard? That question is getting harder and harder to answer, but I do want to be optimistic, so here is my suggestion. Get out there and vote. Research what is going on in our state both locally in our cities and counties. Write these Assemblymen and be persistent. Donate to organizations that represent our 2nd Amendment. Learn and network with others, and stay engaged. Lastly, remember what was promised to us back in 1776. I am a Patriot and am proud of our heritage. When we remember our beginning it keeps that heritage alive.

Thank you for taking the time to read our blogs. I look forward to seeing you out there on the range. Stay trained, stay engaged and remember!
